John J. Burns' Retirement from PCA

John J. Burns, CFA, Managing Director, has announced that he plans to retire from PCA on December 31, 2018.


“I want to publicly thank John for his years of service and dedication to the firm. John has been an invaluable member of PCA and we wish him the best in his retirement,” said Allan Emkin, PCA Founder and Board Member. “Upon John’s retirement, the PCA Board and senior consulting team will attend to all his client relationships to ensure a seamless transition.”


Mr. Burns joined PCA in 2008 and has provided investment consulting services to public pension plans and Taft-Hartley plans. Previously Mr. Burns spent 24 years with the New York City Retirement Systems in multiple roles on the investment staff, including Managing Director – Public Markets Investments. Mr. Burns also served as the Director of Public Equity for the North Carolina Retirement Systems.


Mr. Burns noted, “I’ve enjoyed my 10 years at PCA. Investment consulting is an interesting and challenging business. I have been very gratified to work with defined benefit fund clients to deliver retirement benefits to pensioners and their survivors.


“My sincerest thanks to Allan Emkin for affording me the opportunity to join his investment consulting team. I’m also grateful for all the support I’ve received from my PCA colleagues. I will miss their insights and comradery.”
